JCB 3CX & 3DX error codes

JCB 3CX and 3DX error codes (E-codes) are fault codes stored by the engine ECU when it detects a problem with a sensor, circuit or component. Below are 144 codes for the JCB 3CX & 3DX backhoe loader and what each one means. Use the filter to find a code (e.g. E051) or a keyword (e.g. fuel, sensor).

Reference only — not a repair guide. These descriptions explain what each fault code means. Diagnosis and repair of JCB 3CX & 3DX faults should be carried out by a qualified technician using JCB diagnostic tools. Heavy Duty Parts supplies parts and is not an official JCB dealer.

JCB error codes — FAQ

What are JCB 3CX & 3DX error codes?

They are fault codes (E-codes) that the engine ECU (electronic control unit) stores when it detects a problem with a sensor, circuit or component. They identify which system is affected and are read with JCB diagnostic tools.

How are JCB fault codes read?

The codes are indicated on the machine display and read in detail using the JCB engine diagnostic tool connected to the ECU, which also shows live data for active faults.

Does an error code mean I need a new part?

Not always. A code points to the affected system or sensor, but the fault can be wiring, a connector, a sensor or a component. Diagnosis confirms the cause before a part is replaced. Once the part is confirmed, Heavy Duty Parts can supply it — request a quote by part number.

Can I clear a JCB error code myself?

Many codes clear once the underlying fault is resolved and the ECU re-checks the circuit. Clearing a code is not the same as fixing the fault — diagnosis and repair should be carried out by a qualified technician using JCB diagnostic equipment.

Do these codes apply to both the JCB 3CX and 3DX?

Yes. These are the engine ECU fault codes used on JCB 3CX and 3DX backhoe loaders.

Need the part behind a fault?

Once a fault is diagnosed, send us the part number — we supply JCB 3CX & 3DX parts across South Africa, quote-led.
